SCANDINIBSA 3% SOLUTION FOR INJECTION

Medium-short duration anaesthetic for infiltration and nerve blockade anaesthesia.

Recommended for patients in whom a vasoconstrictor is contraindicated and for dental procedures not requiring lengthy or profound pulpal anaesthesia. 
Plain mepivacaine is commonly used in pediatric patients when the treating doctor is not a pediatric specialist (e.g., general practitioner) and is often appropriate in the treatment of geriatric patients.

POTENCY
Mepivacaine is as potent as lidocaine.

Indications

Local dental anaesthesia in adults, adolescents and children aged 4 years or older (20 kg body weight or higher).

Duration

ONSET OF ACTION: 3-5 min
PULPAL ANAESTHESIA: maxillary infiltration 25 min and IANB 40 min
SOFT TISSUE: maxillary infiltration 90 min and IANB 165 min

Composition

Mepivacaine HCI 3%

Each ml contains:

  • Mepivacaine hydrochloride 30.00 mg

Presentation

Boxes of 50 or 100 cartridges of 1.8 ml (subject to market availability), with transparent blisters of 10 cartridges each.

Uses

Infiltration and perineural use in the oral cavity. For use in dental anaesthesia only.
Injections must always be administered slowly and with prior aspiration in at least two planes (by rotation of the needle by 180º) to prevent accidental intravascular injection.
Each cartridge is for single use only.
